Countering the Hate-Filled Protestors Who Came to Davidson_Aug

Without getting too far into religion - the religion this man was espousing is very specific, and his god hates a lot of people.

At times the Davidson counter-protestors used a megaphone to play uplifting music to try to drown out the hate speech.

Davidson students joined Davidson residents in standing united in opposing the hate-filled speech of the handful of protesting visitors.

One impromptu sign said “Davidson is NO place for hate.”

The handful of protestors drew a sizable crowd of counter-protestors despite the no-notice event at the corner of Main St. and Concord Rd.

At times, their hate-speech just bordered on the bizarre - much like the signs and shirts. News of Davidson is intentionally not showing their hate speech.

Davidson showed up with “love” (sign over the shoulder) to counter this man’s hate-filled speech.

Great to see president Carol Quillen and students on hand to counter the hate-filled speech of a handful of protestors.

A small group of counter protestors soon grew to more than 100 people. They carried signs of love to counter the hate speech and signs of the visiting protestors across the street. [NOTE: we have blurred the images of their hate signs and graphic photos]

A handful of protestors hurled hate speech via megaphones. They arrived just before 3 p.m. and left roughly 2 hours later. More than 100 counterprotestors showed up to reject their words and signs of hatred.

This was one of the protestors using the “gospel” for hate.

Davidson College Chaplain (Rev. Dr.) Rob Spach tried to seek to understand the basis for the protestors. They rejected him as a “false minister” since he didn’t agree with their hate speech.
